What is the Foundation for the Victoria Symphony?

The Foundation secures the future of our community’s orchestra by carefully managing funds that come mostly from local music lovers who leave gifts—large and small—in their estate plans. Principal investments are held in perpetuity while the interest is used to finance our ongoing programs each year. The Foundation takes great care in having contributions matched by granting agencies such as Heritage Canada, often doubling donations that are made to support the orchestra’s future. It is thanks to these visionary supporters and their desire to nurture the future of arts in our community that we can ensure the Victoria Symphony remains a vital force for generations to enjoy.

Visit our Planned Giving page for information on leaving a legacy gift for the Victoria Symphony in your estate plan. Bequests received by the Victoria Symphony are transferred to and invested by The Foundation for the Victoria Symphony. The income from your bequest assures the long term health and success of the Symphony.

Each legacy gift pledge will be acknowledged as a member of the Tribute Circle. If you have already included the Foundation for the Victoria Symphony in your estate plans, please fill out our Tribute Circle Confirmation Form to ensure your support is properly acknowledged and that the purpose of your gift is understood.

Please note: Donations made through Canada Helps are not eligible for Canadian Heritage Endowment Incentives matching. To ensure your donation is matched under this program, please contact us directly to make a donation by mail  (610-620 View St Victoria BC V8W 1J6), phone (250.412.1982), email (donorservices@victoriasymphony.ca), or in person at the Victoria Symphony offices.

A Tribute to Lois Voigt Stockey

Lois passed away in August 2019, leaving bequests to many of Victoria’s arts organizations, including the Victoria Symphony, the Conservatory of Music, and Pacific Opera. A great patron of the arts, she showed her support in many ways throughout her lifetime and left behind a wonderful legacy, fulfilling her wish to honour the Victoria Symphony. In this year of uncertainty, Lois’s gift will help ensure that the Foundation for the Victoria Symphony is able to continue to provide the Victoria Symphony with the necessary funds to survive and thrive.
